For all levels of technical writing experience—even beginners. The course explains that technical writing encompasses a wide variety of fields but that the technical writer is not necessarily a specialist in the field. Rather, he or she must understand the subject material well enough to communicate effectively with one or more target audiences. The basic principles of effective technical writing stress clear, concise, correct, and cogent content, presented in a confident and courteous style. Students will practice writing different end documents and are encouraged to bring real work tasks into the class, edited for confidentiality. Small class size ensures personalized attention.
