C006 - Fiction Writing Workshop

The overall goal is a deeper understanding of both the structure and techniques of the short story form. In this course each student will complete at least one short story. Classes are a blend of discussion and lecture with a friendly workshop environment fully accommodating all skill levels—including beginner and advanced practitioner. Critical skills will be developed through instructor assigned readings and workshop exchanges managed in a polite and helpful manner. Students will hone their personal writing skills by practicing fiction writing and, from the discussions, by interpreting strategies that can be applied to their own work.
